Value First, Color Second Workshop

Value First, Color Second is a three-day workshop focused on building stronger paintings by starting with value before moving into color.

We’ll work through small studies, painting and collage exercises, and larger pieces while exploring how light, mid, and dark shapes can strengthen composition. Once the value structure is working, we’ll bring color back in—without losing what made the composition strong in the first place.

This workshop includes demonstrations, guided exercises, individual work time, and group discussion.
